Case Studies 1
J.C. Architecture rebuilt the Japanese colonial house which has history embedded in the site, and also created a place adapted for modern living.
They designed that traditional craftsmanship is contrasted against modern detailing. For example, the circular light feature hanging from the roof of the living room contrasted against the backdrop of preserved materials.

Tiles of traditional features normally use gray or red.



They used the traditional style of roof(wooden) on this building.

Case Studies 2
HAO design is a company which built this project. The original building was more than 60 years old and also dilapidated, but they rebuilt it. The structural reinforcement and aesthetic attention made the building being a different exterior and interior.
The design team replaced the roof with an exterior surface of matte grey Japanese tile. Moreover, they tried to bring as much as natural light, so they put most of skylight together. Also original iron windows have a strong sense of nostalgia. In addtion, they fix and fusion with elements from previously. For example, stone floor and wall. Lastly, the furniture and decorations are a mix of taiwanese and european designs from the 1940s to the 1980s.
The designer tried to keep all traditional features, which was an Abandoned building, so there are so many traditional features in this house such as roof, wall and decoration. Moreover, in the introduction of the house, the designer mentioned that he tried to preserve traditional features because he want to show his children what kind of houses that grandpa and grandma was living.
