This website is aimed at Architects and interior designers as a resource when working on heritage-listed buildings or when wanting to preserve vernacular details. The website also allows practitioners to share their work, get feedback or collaborate. Moreover, the platform also shares links to topical journal articles in the area of vernacular Taiwanese architecture and has a link to legislative documents

Background to the Study
Why we should protect traditional buildings?
UKEssays (2018) and Morris (2018) state that the removal of cultural assets makes our descendants forget the history of our forefathers. However, UKEssays (2018) further mentions that this also affects our economy as the development of cities and the tourism industry affects the economy. Therefore, traditional buildings and heritage play a significant role in our society by reminding us of our past and traditions. Tradition is our past and it represents a sense of our identity.
Why a large number of traditional houses were demolished?
Both Spencer (2017) and Chen and Fu (2015) mention that many buildings in Taiwan with historical value have been demolished for the purpose of urbanization. However, Spencer (2017) explains that the removal of historical buildings was due to the personal interest of developers and public sector workers while Chen and Fu (2015) explain that it was due to rapid estate developments. Although both mention that traditional buildings are destroyed for different reasons, the fact is traditional buildings are gradually removed.
